Autoresponder Geeks Rating:
Mailchimp is a really nice autoresponder that’s especially well suited for people just starting out with email marketing. It has a really nice, Web 2.0 interface and once you sign up and get your account running, you can have your first email campaign ready in 15 minutes or less. Mail Chimp also offers designer and developers the ability to easily customize their campaigns to the style they want.
MailChimp’s Forever Free Plan allows you to have up to 2,000 subscribers (previously 1,000) and send up to 12,000 emails per month (previously 6,000)…for you guessed it…FREE. You don’t even need a credit card to sign up. MailChimp does have paid plans as well that start at $15 a month if you ever outgrow your free account.

I want to thank the blogger very much not only for this post but also for his all previous efforts. I found http://www.autorespondergeeks.com to be extremely interesting. I will be coming back to http://www.autorespondergeeks.com for more information.
I recently discovered that MailChimp does not allow affiliate links. So if you’re interested in affiliate marketing, it’s not the right choice. Also, if you don’t know that, your account could be banned, apparently making it impossible to export your list to an autoresponder that does allow affiliate links.
I hope this is helpful.

So what are the negatives? Is MailChimp that good or that bad?
The big negative with Mailchimp is that you can’t use it for affiliate marketing purposes.
Thanks for the info. I heard that mail chimp couldn’t be use for affiliate marketing but I wasn’t sure. I also saw in the features list that the free version doesn’t include any auto messages. If this is true then there’s a lot of people who sign up that are just wasting their time.
Is the autoresponder feature with the free account? I thought it only can with the pay as you go and the month subscription.
Hi. I’m new to auto responders but pretty good on computer.
When you say mail chimp cannot be used for affiliate marketing, are you referring to affiliates of mail chimp?
Also, do you know if mail chimp will allow me to upload list of emails from an Excel .csv file?
Thanks so much!
Kobi
Hi Kobi,
Mailchimp will close your account and break all the links in any previous mailings you have sent if you put affiliate links in your emails you send through them. I am trying to verify whether only having affiliate links in the emails is an issue with them, or if having any affiliate link anywhere on your site could cause them to close your account.
Legitimate email solution providers require double opt-in and do not allow uploading existing lists.
Hello Shelly,
Yes, that is correct. Mailchimp does not include autoresponders in their free account according to the chart on the official mailchimp site pricing page showing free versus paid plans and what they include in each.
